I really connected with the work of Natty Peterkin (see above), and wanted to emulate the tone of his pins. I briefly played around with adjusting the line weight (see below) but I wasn't satisfied with the artificial look and I decided that the only way to recreate that look would be to trace a drawing with the pen tool, which I felt would be sidestepping the challenge of using Illustrator if I designed them in that way.

The pins were made using predominantly the pen, shape and brush tools to build complex shapes, then coloured using the live paint tool. I initially mocked them up in Illustrator, before re-doing it in Photoshop for a more realistic effect.
I tried creating my own font based off the title card of the show, but preferred one that I found online (Push Black).
For the backing design I looked at the work of Rebecca Hollingsworth, however I couldn't figure out a way to recreate the texture in her work that looked good and wasn't distracting from the pins.
